Choi Dong-joon was born on August 25, 1977 in Gimpo, Gyeongi Province.  He majored in art Inha University.  His four films of the 1970s were all co-productions with a Taiwanese film company and are listed as simply Taiwan films on sites such as the IMDb. At the start of 1980, Choi returned to Korea and continued making films. His works of the 80s will be indexed at a later date.

In the 1970s, director Byeon Jang-ho helmed 31 movies. I have already posted all the films from 1970 to 1973, and 17 of those were directed by Byeon.  Below are the other 14 films he created in that decade.  Just click the thumbnail to enlarge. Up until now, I had been working on the index of Korean films by year. But with this post, I am changing a little and working on the films by director– in this case Yoo Hyeon-mok.  I am still looking to finish the 1970s first before moving on to other decades, but Yoo only made a few films in the 70s –and I had already posted two of them. So to make this post a little longer, I included director Yoo’s films from the 1950s as well. (His films from the 60s, 80s and 90s will have to wait for now)  These and many other plates can be accessed by clicking the appropriate decade tab at the top of this page and searching by director’s last name.

Here are the final 16 movies produced in Korea in 1973. That year is now finished!  Up next.. well, one would think it would be 1974. But I might change direction just slightly. A few weeks ago, I posted the films on Ahn Byeong-ki in ‘The 2000s’ section and I am contemplating finishing the 70s by completing each director in order.  The change has come about for a practical reason… I have apparently misplaced 1974.  It was the only year that was not backed up and realizing that I said to myself a few weeks ago that I need to keep it someplace safe until I could copy it… Now if I could just remember where I put the flashdrive that had the completed images…

Ahn Byeong-gi was born on November 5, 1966.  He graduated from the Seoul Fine Arts Institute where he majored in Film. He first worked in film under director Jeong Jin-yeong on such films as The Life of the Hollywood Kid (1994) and Naked Being (1998).  He debuted with Nightmare, but is best known to date for Phone. Ahn does not limit himself to directing. He wrote the screenplays for many of his films and he is the Executive Director of Toilet Pictures. Although he has directed only horror during the 2000s, he is currently working on a film listed as a drama about the Avian Flu with a working title of “Gamgi” (meaning ‘A Cold’)

I have now typed in all the names of Korean movies released between 1970 through January, 2011 and 1919-1940 as can be seen through the tabs above. You might have noticed that I have added other decades to the top of the page as well. Unfortunately, they are not falling in chronological order.  Instead, they are in the order I created the page.  I can arrange them correctly on the adminstration page, but it does not change the main page.  I could copy the information in each page, delete the page and repost it by pasting the information back in while recreating the pages in the correct order, but then I will lose all the links already set up on the 1970s page.  I am not willing to do that, so I guess I just have to accept them being our of order…
