Korean Box Office: October 20- November 1

1st November 2009

Good Morning President proved able to handily hold onto the top spot in this weekend’s box office despite a flood of new films that opened last week.  Unfortunately the movie Paju failed to impress and wound up opening in the middle tiers with just 3 percent of the national total.

Below is the list of films opening this coming week. I admit I was somewhat surprised that only Korean productions were being released. At first I thought that it was to avoid competing with 2012 which opens in two weeks.  However this does not seem to be the case.  In fact, five more Korean films are slated to open on the following week as well. Of the films opening this week, I am most curious about The Executioner which is about the guards working on death row and their relationships with the prisoners.
