It was a very busy week. The program I have been organizing since last summer that will allow 20 students of my university to study in the US for the winter for free has started. This week I interviewed 90 students interested in taking part in it and have to cut 50 of them. The remaining forty will undergo a two month course and interview process and a final selection will be made later. But that kept me too busy to do much blogging this week.  However, I will try to catch up now–the ‘Films Awaiting Release’ section was updated as was the ‘My DVD’ list. With classes starting in earnest, it has been a busy week. I have not had much time where I could post here.  I don’t have that many classes, but I have been meeting with returning students–I miss them during vacations– plus I have been in the middle of planning a large language exchange program. But it is the weekend now. I can work on the blog and watch movies ’til my eyes fall out.  And I have a lot to watch including the Lee Man-hee Boxset that came today with the collection of short films called Nice Shorts.  But for now, here are the next 15 films produced in Korea in 1971, Click the thumbnail to see a full-sized image. I wound up watching a lot of Korean films this week such as The Devil’s Stairway (1964), Boy Meets Boy (2008), Possessed (2009) and Blades of Blood (2009). Unfortunately, I can’t write about them here right now because I had to see them for some commissioned writing and I won’t feel comfortable posting my reviews here until they are published in the journals/magazines they were for.
